Today we did collaborative painting in the morning and then walked down to the library for story time. Story time was full so we just grabbed some Halloween books and walked around a bit, headed to the Bowie Community Center where he played on an awesome playground. He was having so much fun there with this other little boy that I guess he didn’t want to stop and go to the bathroom because he pooed his pants. Oh well. I just took him home and cleaned him up. He’s been potty trained for awhile but seems to regress a little here or there. I am trying to take it as it comes.
he talks to people at the grocery store even strange-looking people i might not choose to talk to. He is talking in complete sentences, and in the morning tells us “I slept in my bed!” I got him some smiley face stickers and hershey’s kisses to help encourage him to use his potty. We went away last weekend to Puerto Rico and I missed him, we were all so happy to be reunited. He is out with Daddy now getting his first big boy haircut at the barbershop. I am getting into the Larry Sanders show. We had pancakes this morning. I had a very exciting phone interview with the place I have always wanted to work this week. They have an excellent child care system and I really really hope that I get this job.
he sleeps on the floor every night because he still puts up a small fuss when we leave his room, and he gets out of bed and cries by the door for just a couple of minutes. We started putting a blanket by the door so at least he could lie on something soft, and at night we cover him up, but usually just let him sleep on the floor. This morning M went in to wake him up and he announced “I slept on the floor!”
He’s also saying “I want to watch Kipper dog” right now over and over, with some whiny throw in for good measure. He calls both potatoes and Play-Doh “Tee Po”
holds it up to his ear as if it’s a phone, and says “Hi Kipper Dog.” I am not sure why he thinks he can communicate with Kipper this way, but it’s cute.
Don’t be defensive. Don’t buy any new clothes unless absolutely necessary.
It’s been a quiet little weekend with still sickly D. We’re sitting on the couch, watching Sprout and just chilling today (Sunday). Earlier today and also last night we realized he could say some of the words in the books we read him. Like, finish the sentences based on pictures and his memory. So cute. Also he saw a picture of a cow eating hay in one of his books and told me the cow was eating pasta.
He loves seeing the school buses every morning, and loves when he’s two buses at once. He points and says “two! two bus!”
He saw M’s brownie last night on the table and I told him it was for daddy. So when Matt got home, D hugged him and then asked for the brownie.
He does speak in full sentences, although they are short! Thank you daddy, thank you mommy, etc.
He was sick over the weekend (long weekend with MLK day) and pitiful but seems to talk a lot more and better when he’s around me and M for awhile.
today when i picked D up from daycare he was being so good, quietly reading at the table with a little book. He didn’t even want to leave, just wanted to show me his book. I am making a renewed effort to be online as little as possible when I’m hanging out with D and I think we had a pretty good night together because of it. We looked at flash cards, drew a little bit, ate some cheese, apple sauce, and pasta, and just hung out. I was much less distracted and grumpy than if I was trying to read some stupid blog!
